Wilderness First Aid Certification

If you plan to spend time in the backcountry, you need to be prepared. Fast paced and hands-on, this two-day course is the standard introduction to backcountry medicine for people who travel and work in the outdoors.
The course covers a wide range of wilderness medicine topics. You'll learn, among other things, how to tape ankles, improvise splints, monitor vital signs, manage environmental illnesses like hypothermia and heat stroke, straighten fractures, reduce dislocations, and deal with such backcountry threats as snakes, insects and allergic reactions. You'll also learn patient assessment techniques to determine how and when to evacuate an injured person. The Wilderness First Aid certification is sponsored by the Wilderness Medicine Institute, the standard in the outdoor industry for wilderness medical training.

The course will be held at the Deer Hill Basecamp: June 30 - July 1, 2007
