The following itineraries are examples of some of our more popular custom programs. You can use one of the programs as outlined below, combine or modify them, or come up with a totally unique plan to meet your scheduling needs or curricular objectives. 4-day, River Rafting and Inflatable Kayaking Expedition

| Day 1 |
Arrival, meet at or drive to the launch site on the San Juan River, orientation. Boats are rigged and ready to go. Safety discussion, rowing and paddling techniques, launch on river and head downstream. |
| Days 2-3 |
Rafting and inflatable kayaking expedition through the Raplee Anticline, 1,000’ cliffs of redrock sandstone, hiking to archeological sites and petroglyphs, desert ecology and geology, swimming, running rapids, "Circle." |
| Day 4 |
Last day on the river in this wilderness canyon, final activities, closure, river take-out; showers; return to arrival point, departure. |

5-day, Service Project in the Navajo Nation
Challenge Level: Moderate

| Day 1 |
Deer Hill staff meet your group and drive to a lunch spot on the way to the project site and discuss etiquette, expectations and logistics of living in the Navajo Nation; arrive and meet host family members, set up camp, prepare dinner, talk about the plan for the next few days with our hosts. |
| Days 2-4 |
Service projects with host family or nearby community members: build sheep pens or corrals, repair fencing, tend livestock, painting, small construction projects; cultural interaction: story telling, dances, native crafts. Meet for Circle each evening by a campfire and discuss the day’s events. On the last night, celebrate with a Navajo Taco dinner of frybread, chili, salad and dessert, and final Circle. |

Conclude service projects, closing activities with Native host families, farewells, departure. |

Breakfast, conclude packing, review maps and drive to the trailhead of a stunning redrock canyon in southeastern Utah. Begin backpacking expedition. |

Backpacking in a unique canyon wilderness; 1500' redrock walls, hidden pools, Ancestral Puebloan sites, pristine side canyons; desert ecology and geology; evening Circles under moonlit cliffs. |
| Day 6 |
Last few miles of canyon hiking, meet vans at the trailhead, return to Deer Hill
Basecamp, de-issue gear, shower, light meal, sweat lodge ceremony, banquet, final Circle. |

Backpacking in an alpinewilderness; summit bids of 13,000+ foot peaks, alpine lakes, snow school and ice axe use on permanent snow fields, rock climbing camp, mountain ecology and geology; evening Circles under the stars. |

Final day backpacking through the high Rockies, meet vans at the trailhead, return to Deer Hill
Basecamp, de-issue gear, shower, light meal, sweat lodge ceremony, banquet, final Circle. |

Bid farewell to our hosts, drive to river launch site near Bluff, Utah. Travel through scenic desert country of high mesas, valleys, and redrock outcrops. Stop at a trading post to view or purchase Native American jewelry, pottery, or paintings. Camp at launch site on the San Juan River. |

Rafting and inflatable kayaking on the San Juan, a wilderness canyon river; 1000' redrock sandstone cliffs of the Raplee Anticline, desert ecology and geology; side hikes to Ancestral Puebloan sites, petroglyphs, swimming, rapids, nightly Circle. |
| Day 9 |
Take off the river, drive to Bluff, Utah for showers, final night's camp in the desert, final banquet and Circle. |

Breakfast, packing for departure, farewells. |
