In the Kayaking & Rock Climbing expedition, you will learn the paddling skills necessary to navigate the Colorado or San Juan River. In the Costa Rica Exploradores program you paddle down the Rio Pejivalle while looking for wildlife on the riverbanks. Designed as an introduction to kayaking, the initial focus is on learning basic techniques: paddle strokes, braces, reading the river, eddying out, the wet exit, the "T-Rescue" and the "Eskimo Roll," among many others.


During the 3 to 4-day kayak expedition, you become comfortable practicing these basic skills as you play in the waves and currents. Kayaking is a fun way to explore the river because you control your own craft, building confidence along with your skills.
