The landscapes of the Southwest are as unique as the stories of their people. Ancestral Puebloans occupied countless canyons, farming the mesa tops and river bottoms for over 1000 years. Mesa Verde National Park is only 10 miles from Deer Hill's Basecamp. Today, Durango and Telluride are thriving western towns, their history rooted in pioneer times of mining and ranching. Since 1990, we have built friendships and trust with families and communities in the Hopi, Navajo, and Zuni Nations.
Sensitive to the needs of families, we have created a thoughtful blend of activities geared for fun, challenge, and success. Participate at the level you choose, or relax and enjoy the views. Arrive at Deer Hill's Basecamp; swim, relax, enjoy a home cooked dinner,
sleep in cabins |
| Day 2 |
Easy horseback ride in the La Plata Mountains with an authentic, hearty cowboy breakfast. Return to Basecamp for a swim/shower; pack and drive to our campsite in the Ute Tribal Park |
| Day 3 |
Hiking tour of pristine Ancestral Puebloan sites, led by Ute Indian guides. Return to Basecamp for swim/shower; pack up and drive to campsite in the mountains |
| Day 4 |
Day hike in meadows and aspen/spruce forest; relax; enjoy same campsite |
| Day 5 |
Day trek, support vehicle carries our gear to a new campsite; wildflowers, wildlife, and mountain scenery |
| Day 6 |
Choice of morning peak ascent or relaxed morning in camp; return to Basecamp in the afternoon; swim/shower, sleep in cabins |

Morning whitewater rafting trip on the Animas River; check out historic and scenic Durango in the afternoon; return to Basecamp for banquet and final activities; sleep in cabins |
