Award-winning singer-songwriter Kayla Ringelheim sings at an outdoor festival in Massachusetts.
Singer derives inspiration from her Deer Hill program
Kayla came to Deer Hill in 2005, and recently sent us a copy of, “Middle of Nowhere”, a song she wrote about her expedition. She wrote: “It took me almost 2 years to finish something that could give adequate tribute to an experience that affected my life so significantly. I did borrow your slogan, although Doug said he didn’t mind! I still play the song all the time and look forward to whenever the day is that I make it back to Colorado.” Kayla is now studying Biology at Brown University, and says she is trying to decide between a career in Medicine or life as a musician.

Here’s a shot of Kayla with her group on her Rocky Mountain Canoeing course. She is in the middle on the front row. The picture is taken in the La Plata mountains, just a few miles from Deer Hill Basecamp.
